Arizona School and Charitable Tax Credits
Donate to an Arizona public school and/or qualifying charitable organization and you could receive tax credits that reduce your tax bill by as much as $200 for an individual or $400 for a married couple filing jointly. Starting January 1, 2017, donations that are received or postmarked by April 18, 2017 can be applied to your 2016 or 2017 tax bill. And, you do not have to itemize deductions to claim these tax credits.
I especially encourage Tucsonans to take the opportunity to contribute to our Title 1 schools, which lack the financial resources found in more affluent neighborhoods.
What is a Title 1 School?
A school may qualify for federal Title 1 Schoolwide Program funds if not less than 40 percent of the children enrolled, or from the attendance area served, come from low-income families.

What is a Qualifying Charitable Organization?
These are 501(c)(3) charities that have applied to and been approved by the Arizona Department of Revenue, after showing that they spend at least 50 percent of their budget on services to low-income individuals, or chronically ill or physically disabled children, and plan to continue to do so.
