NAMI Candlelight Vigil for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding
October 4, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Rain or shine, open to the public, everyone welcome! Candles will be provided for the first 100 people. Use your smart phone light or bring your own candle.
As part of Mental Illness Awareness Week, October 2-8, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southern Arizona invites the community to participate in a Candlelight Vigil for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding.
There will be a short candle lighting ceremony and personal stories of recovery and hope. Speakers will tell their stories about how mental illness has affected them, their path to recovery, and how they found help and hope. Information on NAMI’s mental illness education, advocacy, and recovery services will be available.
Every year, regardless of race, age, religion, or economic status, mental illness impacts the lives of at least one in five adults and children across the U.S.—nearly 60 million Americans or 200,000 in our community alone! Recovery is possible. Learn all you can. Do all you can. Take action. Speak out. Advocate. Replace stigma with understanding.
