Tucson won Pet360’s Top City for Pets competition, beating out Austin, Charleston, Portland and Seattle.

Along with Tucson’s designation as the 2015 Top City for Pets, Pet360, a subsidiary of PetSmart, gave the Humane Society of Southern Arizona a $5,000 donation.

Factors weighing in our favor were Tucson’s roughly 90 pet friendly hotel options, 30 pet friendly restaurants, six off-leash dog parks, access to the great outdoors and animal cruelty prevention measures.

Tucson and Southern Arizona animal lovers came through, casting votes that put us over the top and securing the donation for our local Humane Society. For every vote cast in the competition, Natural Balance Pet Foods agreed to donate up to 100,000 meals to shelter animals.

“Tucsonans really care about animals, and support the organizations that help them,” said Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild. “Congratulations to the Humane Society—and the Tucson community—on this well-deserved award.”
