This Saturday, November 8, cheer on the troops as they play each other in a volleyball tournament at the “beach” downtown, 5th Avenue and Toole.

Tucson welcomes and honors our veterans and military servicemembers. I wanted to add a fun event to the weekend’s activities that would bring veterans, servicemembers and their families downtown, so, working with community partners, and thanks to event sponsors Raytheon Missile Systems and CAID Industries, Inc., the City of Tucson Veterans Day 1st Annual Volleyball Tournament was born.

November 8 is also 2nd Saturday downtown. In addition to the usual music, entertainment, food and shopping, there’ll be a beer garden and military vehicles. After the tournament, there’ll be a color guard, army band and, at 6:00 p.m., a free outdoor screening of the family-friendly film, Big Fish. Bring a blanket!
